FYI there’s a special on Nat Geo Wild tonight at 9pm about the lost sharks of Easter Island. http://natgeotv.com.au/tv/lost-sharks-of-easter-island/
2. Reduction - In what areas of your current lifestyle did you try to scale back the use of specific resources? I’ve tried to scale back on water consumption and wasting electricity this week. I can definitely say it’s possible if I try hard enough. Spending money and using too much gas are not exactly difficult for me because I can’t drive and I usually don’t have any money. 3. Sustainability - Are there any changes that you made to your daily routine that you could envision making for the long term? Can you reduce your consumption permanently? Why or why not? Please be specific, and provide examples. All of the changes I’ve made this week could be permanent, as I’ve said before, but I know now that certain obligations prevent me from being entirely sustainable. I’ve struggled with scaling back on electricity because I need my computer for so many things related to school and communication but it is definitely possible to scale back with much effort. 4. What did you learn from following the tumblr feed of your peers? Did one person’s actions resonate with you in a positive way? Will you adjust your own actions as a result of their post I loved this project. I thought it was so interesting and challenging and it was fun to see how my classmates were doing with it as well. They definitely motivated me to do better. Like Ryan O’Keefe I thought this project was a big wake up call and showed me how lucky we are. I’ve been spreading the word to my family this whole week and it’s awesome to see them turning off lights, taking shorter showers, and using less in general. I hope we can continue this project throughout the year.

2. Reduction - In what areas of your current lifestyle did you try to scale back the use of specific resources? I’ve really scaled back on everything this week but today I definitely slipped up. I was a little overtired and I had obligations that required me to do certain things so they definitely had a large effect. 3. All of the changes I’ve made this week could be permanent, as I’ve said before, but I’m starting to realize certain obligations prevent me from being COMPLETELY sustainable. 4. Will you adjust your own actions as a result of their post I’m with Rashad- I definitely want to continue to reduce my consumption after this experiment is over! It’s been challenging at times but, as I believe I’ve said before, it feels good to know I’m making a difference even if it’s a small one.
1. Consumption - What did you consume today?

I’ve really scaled back on everything this week. I’ve been taking shorter showers, spending less time on my phone and computer, shutting off all of the lights in my house, and I’ve been trying to get my family to do all of these things as well. It feels good to think I’m making a difference.

All of the changes I’ve made this week could be permanent (i.e. cutting back on shower time, cutting back on food consumption, cutting back on electricity and the like). It’s really not so hard and you get used to it after a few days. It feels rewarding and it’s almost like a competition for me now to see how much I can reduce.

Once again I have to say it’s awesome how enthusiastic everyone is about this project. Anthony Betances’ posts about if healthy foods good for the environment and the beached whales were SO interesting. I encourage everyone to check out those posts and his page- they got me thinking.
